 T.Sadasivam, co-founder of Kalki magazine, was a many - splendoured personality – freedom fighter, publisher, past master at public relations and advertising, devoted lieutenant of C Rajagopalachari and life partner and mentor of M S
Subbulakshmi.
Sadasivam pioneered advertising concepts which have come to stay in Tamil magazine journalism. He understood the power of advertising, and exploited it to the hilt for constructive causes.
Though a traditionalist at heart, Sadasivam encouraged young talent all his life. It is to perpetuate the values he stood for that the Kalki Sadasivam Memorial Trust was established three years ago. One of the objectives of the trust is to recognize excellence in advertising in Tamil, with an equal emphasis on social purpose and creativity. The
winner of the Kalki Sadasivam Award for the best advertisement published during the year in Tamil dailies or weeklies will receive a citation as well as a purse of Rs.10,000.
The Trust also gives scholarships to top undergraduate students of advertising, public relations and mass communication. With the help of like-minded individuals and groups, we hope to expand our activities to promote excellence in activities close to the late
Sadasivam’s heart.
